Nootrum is the best mushroom supplement we’ve seen so far at least in terms of the listed ingredients. The fact that they use 10:1 extracts (and were willing to show there 3rd party testing certificates) means that it’s pretty much the only mushroom capsule supplement that actually gives you enough of the core ingredients for them to be effective.
So in short, yes we do recommend Nootrum.
Now let’s get into the ingredients breakdown
Nootrum Ingredients
1. Lion’s Mane: The Brain Booster
Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is a unique mushroom known for its distinctive appearance and powerful brain-boosting properties. This mushroom contains compounds called erinacines and hericenones, which have been shown to stimulate the production of nerve growth factor (NGF) in the brain. NGF is crucial for the growth and maintenance of neurons, making Lion’s Mane an excellent supplement for improving memory, focus, and overall cognitive function.
Research has shown that Lion’s Mane can also help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. It works by modulating the levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which are essential for regulating mood and emotions. Additionally, Lion’s Mane has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can protect the brain from oxidative stress and inflammation, both of which are linked to cognitive decline.
2. Reishi: The Calming Mushroom
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is often referred to as the “queen of mushrooms” due to its wide range of health benefits. This mushroom has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine to promote longevity, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being. Reishi contains bioactive compounds like triterpenes, polysaccharides, and antioxidants, which contribute to its calming and stress-reducing effects.
By modulating the levels of stress hormones like cortisol, Reishi can help promote relaxation, improve sleep quality, and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. This mushroom also supports the immune system, which is closely linked to mental health. A healthy immune system can protect the brain from inflammation and oxidative stress, both of which are associated with cognitive decline.
3. Cordyceps: The Energy Enhancer
Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis) is a unique mushroom that grows on the larvae of insects. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries to enhance energy, stamina, and athletic performance. Cordyceps contains bioactive compounds like cordycepin and adenosine, which have been shown to improve oxygen utilization in the body and enhance ATP production, the natural energy currency of our cells.
By increasing energy production and oxygen uptake, Cordyceps can help improve mental clarity, focus, and overall cognitive function. It also supports the body’s stress response by reducing the release of stress hormones and promoting relaxation. Additionally, Cordyceps has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can protect the brain from oxidative stress and inflammation.
4. Chaga: The Immune Booster
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a medicinal mushroom that grows on birch trees in cold regions. It has been used for centuries in traditional medicine to boost the immune system and promote overall well-being. Chaga contains bioactive compounds like beta-glucans, polysaccharides, and antioxidants, which contribute to its immune-boosting properties.
A healthy immune system is essential for optimal brain function and mental health. By supporting immune function, Chaga can help protect the brain from inflammation, infections, and oxidative stress. This mushroom also contains compounds that have been shown to stimulate the production of NGF in the brain, promoting the growth and maintenance of neurons. Additionally, Chaga has been linked to reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression, thanks to its calming and stress-reducing effects.
5. Turkey Tail: The Gut-Brain Connection
Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor) is a colorful mushroom that resembles the tail feathers of a turkey. It has been used in traditional medicine for its immune-boosting properties and its ability to support digestive health. Turkey Tail contains bioactive compounds like polysaccharides, beta-glucans, and antioxidants, which contribute to its health benefits.
The gut and the brain are closely connected, and maintaining a healthy gut microbiome is essential for optimal brain function. Turkey Tail promotes a healthy gut by supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria and reducing the growth of harmful bacteria. By improving gut health, Turkey Tail can help reduce inflammation, support immune function, and improve mental health.
6. Shiitake: The Mood Stabilizer
Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) is a popular culinary mushroom known for its rich umami flavor. It is also packed with nutrients and bioactive compounds that can benefit mental health. Shiitake contains compounds like eritadenine, which can help lower cholesterol levels and improve blood circulation, both of which are important for optimal brain function.
Research has shown that Shiitake can help regulate mood and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. It works by modulating the levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which play a crucial role in regulating mood and emotions. Additionally, Shiitake has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can protect the brain from oxidative stress and inflammation.
7. Maitake: The Memory Enhancer
Maitake (Grifola frondosa) is a culinary and medicinal mushroom known for its unique shape and health benefits. It contains bioactive compounds like polysaccharides, beta-glucans, and antioxidants, which contribute to its memory-enhancing properties.
Research has shown that Maitake can improve memory and cognitive function by stimulating the production of NGF in the brain. NGF promotes the growth and maintenance of neurons, which are essential for memory and learning. Additionally, Maitake has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, which can protect the brain from oxidative stress and inflammation.

Nootrum Review Final Thoughts
We decided to give these a trial as like a lot of people these days, we
have had issues with our mental health, from the extreme to the less
restrictive mental health issues. So did they work, the answer is
simply YES. For some of us the effects were relatively quick 3 to 4
days whilst others in the group felt the effects after a couple of weeks.
What we all discovered was that we felt happier, we slept better and,
in some cases, felt less teary, but what we did not expect when we
purchased Nootrum Mushroom supplements, was that some of us felt
less aches and pains. This was a very much welcome side effect.
