BCR Closed
As of December 31, 2010, the Biblographical Center for Research, BCR, has closed its doors. BCR can be reached through its mailing address, PO Box 681, Arvada, Colorado, 80001 or via email, accounting@bcr.org.
The Bibliographical Center for Research, Rocky Mountain Region, Inc., was founded in 1935 as a resource sharing focused organization assisting researchers and libraries with locating materials held in libraries outside their local community. Before automating, BCR maintained a card catalog with over 6 million catalog cards from major libraries in the West and throughout the country. As online database searching became prevalent, BCR refocused its efforts on offering access and training for computerized resources and services. Most recently, BCR served over 8,000 member libraries in primarily an 11-state region as a regional network offering OCLC products and services, training and consulting, and discounts on products and services from over 60 business partners. BCR was unique among its regional network peers because of its close relationship with state library agencies, who paid for statewide membership on behalf of all libraries in their states. BCR’s organization historical documents will be housed in the archives at the University of Denver.
